Shop in Hyde Town Centre Fined by Trading Standards

A Hyde shop owner has been fined after Tameside Trading Standards uncovered a major haul of illicit tobacco and illegal e cigarettes at Royal Mini Market on Market Street. During an inspection, officers seized 485 disposable vapes, 256 packets of illegal cigarettes and 46 pouches of illegal hand rolling tobacco. The items were hidden in a toilet cistern and a built in wall concealment.

The owner, Hamid Mohamad Ahmadi of Naylor Court, Gunson Street, Manchester, pleaded guilty to six charges and has since surrendered the shop lease. Tameside magistrates ordered him to pay a £500 fine, a £200 victim surcharge and £1,188 in costs.
